The sacraments are efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ, by which divine life is given to us.
Sacraments of Initiation
Baptism
The first sacrament, through which we are freed from sin, reborn as children of God, and welcomed into the Church.
Baptism is the gateway to the spiritual life and to the other sacraments. Through water and the Holy Spirit, original sin is washed away and we are joined to Christ in his death and resurrection. It marks us forever as members of God's family and is received only once.
How to begin
Parents wishing to have a child baptized should contact the parish office to register and arrange the required preparation session for parents and godparents. Adults seeking Baptism are welcomed through our OCIA process.
The source and summit of the Christian life, in which we receive the true Body and Blood of Christ.
In the Eucharist, bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ, who gives himself to us as spiritual food. Celebrated at every Mass, it unites us with the Lord and with one another as one body. Receiving Holy Communion nourishes our souls and deepens our communion with God.
How to begin
Children typically prepare for First Holy Communion over two years through our faith formation (catechism) program, usually beginning in the second grade. Register your child for catechism to begin the journey toward First Communion.
The sacrament that seals us with the gift of the Holy Spirit and strengthens us to live and witness to our faith.
Confirmation completes the grace of Baptism by an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Through the anointing with sacred chrism and the laying on of hands by the bishop, the confirmed are strengthened to profess Christ courageously and to serve the Church. It deepens our identity as disciples and sends us forth as witnesses of the Gospel.
How to begin
Youth and adults prepare for Confirmation through a dedicated formation program. Register for our Confirmation preparation to receive this sacrament.
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, the Church's journey of faith for adults seeking to become Catholic or to complete their initiation.
OCIA (also known as RCIA) is a welcoming process of formation, prayer, and accompaniment for adults who wish to be baptized, confirmed, or to receive First Holy Communion. It also welcomes baptized Christians from other traditions who seek to come into full communion with the Catholic Church. Through community, catechesis, and the sacraments, participants are gradually initiated into the life and faith of the Church.
How to begin
Whether you are exploring the faith for the first time or returning to complete your initiation, you are warmly invited to join our OCIA process. Register to begin, and a member of our team will reach out to accompany you.
The sacrament of God's mercy, in which our sins are forgiven and we are restored to friendship with God and the Church.
In Reconciliation we confess our sins to a priest, express sorrow, and receive God's forgiveness through absolution. Christ entrusted this ministry of mercy to the Church so that no one need carry the burden of sin alone. The grace of this sacrament heals our relationship with God and strengthens us to grow in holiness.
How to begin
Confessions are heard at the regularly scheduled times each week, and by appointment at any time. Please check our schedule for current confession times.
The sacrament that brings Christ's healing grace, comfort, and strength to those who are seriously ill, elderly, or facing surgery.
Through the anointing with blessed oil and the prayer of the priest, this sacrament unites the suffering person to the passion of Christ and confers grace, peace, and courage. It can bring physical healing if God wills, and always strengthens the soul, forgiving sins when the person is unable to confess. It may be received more than once whenever a person's health is seriously threatened.
How to begin
Please call the parish office to request the Anointing of the Sick for yourself or a loved one who is seriously ill, advanced in age, or preparing for surgery. In an emergency, a priest is available at any hour.
The sacrament in which a man and a woman are joined in a lifelong covenant of love, signifying the union of Christ and his Church.
In Holy Matrimony, a baptized man and woman freely give themselves to each other in a covenant ordered toward their mutual good and the procreation and education of children. God himself is the author of marriage, and the spouses are the ministers of the sacrament to one another. This bond is faithful, exclusive, and lasting until death.
How to begin
Couples planning to marry should contact the parish office at least six months in advance to allow time for the required marriage preparation. We are glad to walk with you as you prepare for this sacred commitment.
The sacrament through which men are consecrated as bishops, priests, or deacons to serve the Church in Christ's name.
Holy Orders continues the mission Christ entrusted to his apostles, configuring the ordained to Christ the Head and Shepherd. Through the laying on of hands and the bishop's prayer of consecration, deacons, priests, and bishops are empowered to preach the Word, celebrate the sacraments, and shepherd God's people. It is a sacrament of service for the building up of the whole Church.
How to begin
If you sense that God may be calling you to the priesthood or the diaconate, we encourage you to speak with our pastor, who can accompany you in prayerful discernment and connect you with the diocesan vocations office.
